Walrus Audio Emissary Parallel Boost Pedal Overview

The Walrus Audio Emissary Parallel Boost Pedal is a new 2-in-1 boost pedal built from the ground up that makes your leads stand out, your slides sing, as well as making your fingerpicking come to life. It’s unique with a parallel design that lets you combine both boost circuits to deliver a ‘sinus-clearing experience’ according to Walrus Audio. You can use one or the other separately, or mix a combination of both simply by turning each knob up to your preferred level. Working together will deliver a richer and more three-dimensional sound, making it fill the gap between an EQ and a boost pedal.

The ‘Bright’ knob controls the clean, high headroom JFET boost, which slightly emphasises the higher frequencies to make your top end more vibrant which is ideal if you’re running into a dark-sounding amp.

The ‘Mid’ knob controls the volume for the mid-boost circuit and features a targeted boost at either 1kHz or 800Hz which can be changed with the toggle switch at the centre of the pedal. It will allow your solos to cut through the mix while playing with a band.

The Walrus Audio Emissary Parallel Boost Pedal has a soft-relay, non-latching type bypass switch which also has a momentary function so you can easily add an extra bit of boost for a certain part of the song. When the bypass switch is in an off position, just press and hold to temporarily engage the effect, and when you release the switch, it turns the effect off. This also means you don’t need to click twice to get out of the boost.

The Emissary Parallel Boost pedal features top-mounted jacks, making it easy for you to set up your pedalboard to use the maximum amount of space.

The Walrus Audio Emissary Parallel Boost Pedal comes with a silk satin black finish with light blue and white ink on a rugged, aluminium casing. The striking artwork is provided by illustrator Adam Forster, featuring an x-ray of a patients skull viewing the Emissary and other vital veins running through the head.

The Emissary Parallel Boost uses a 9v power supply (not included), and Walrus Audio recommends using an isolated supply, rather than a daisy-chained power solution.
