Ibanez Limited XPTB620-BKF Iron Label, Black Flat Overview

The Ibanez XPTB620-BKF is a part of the Iron Label series of high-performance metal-oriented guitars. The XPTB620-BKF marks the return of the highly requested Xiphos body shape and sports the revitalised Iron Label spec. As well as the trademark Black Flat finish and Ebony fretboard, the XPTB620 also features an Okoume body, the ultra-fast Wizard II neck profile and hot-rodded DiMarzio D-Activator pickups.

Powerful Tone

At the core of the XPTB620’s potent tone is its Okoume body. The Okoume body lays down a strong tonal foundation, with a strident mid-range and a punchy growl that’s akin to Mahogany.

This is enhanced by a pair of harmonically rich and high-output DiMarzio D-Activator humbuckers, which boast a clean, open sound with a tight low-end response. What DiMarzio have managed to achieve with the D-Activators is something to behold, putting the energy of an active pickup into a passive one - without the sterility or the need for batteries.

The bridge and neck have been meticulously balanced output-wise, so you won’t hear a drop in volume when you switch between them. Plus, the fantastic string-to-string separation means all your notes and pick attack will come through when using high-gain settings.

Lightning Fast Playability

The Ibanez XPTB620 features an ultra-fast and thin Wizard II 5pc Maple/Walnut neck, which delivers effortless playability. From brutal doom riffs to intricate leads, this 25.5" scale length neck makes performing them a breeze. Not only is this neck incredibly easy to get around, it’s also very sturdy and stable - perfect for players that like to use low tunings.

The Maple/Walnut neck is topped with a smooth Ebony fretboard and 24 Jumbo frets. Ebony is renowned for its durability, detailed high-end and snappy response. Jumbo frets can give you an edge when it comes to technically demanding styles as they provide a buttery smooth playing feel.

For modern metal styles such as Djent and Progressive Metal where an extended range is crucial, check out the XPTB620-BKF’s 7-string sibling, the XPTB720-BKF.

Premium Hardware

Providing the Ibanez XPTB620’s rock solid and precise tuning stability is its top-notch hardware. Gotoh is by far one of the best manufacturers out there when it comes to machine heads - and the Ibanez XPTB620 is kitted out with them. With their smooth action, super precision, minimal back lush, these tuners have got your back during intense performances.

The Edge-Zero II tremolo bridge is an Ibanez design and boasts a lower profile for increased playing comfort. There’s also a handy stud lock function, which promotes stable tuning even further. When you’re ready to pull off some extreme pitch bends and dive bombs, the Edge-Zero II bridge won’t let you down.

In addition to a cracking electric guitar, Ibanez also throws in a robust gig bag that is made from durable materials. It’s a great way to transport the XPTB620 to your next gig or session.

If you’re after a premium metal axe with a great look, agile playability and a bone-crushing tone, the Ibanez XPTB620-BKF is a top choice.
