Gretsch G6636-RF Richard Fortus Signature Falcon, Black Overview

This stunning signature Falcon is a collaboration between Gretsch and respected rock guitarist Richard Fortus. Fortus has established a fierce reputation as a first-call guitar player and is famed for his role in the legendary Guns N’ Roses. Gretsch have worked closely with Fortus to craft a unique Falcon that lives up to the versatility and elegance of his playing style.

Classic Gretsch Core

At its heart, the G6636-RF is unmistakably Gretsch, thanks to its double-cutaway laminated Maple body, comfortable Maple neck and buttery-smooth Ebony fretboard.

There’s a reason why Gretsch have favoured this tonewood combination for so many years, as it delivers exceptional note separation that lets chords beautifully ring out, lengthy sustain and a bright, articulate response that lends itself well to lead work. The G6636-RF’s features a semi-hollow construction, which provides the warm, resonant and focussed tone that you’d expect. At the core of the G6636-RF’s Maple body is a chambered Spruce centre block, allowing you to play at loud volumes with plenty of gain - without having to worry about unruly feedback.

Smooth Playability

Thanks to the Maple neck’s standard “U” profile and slinky 24.6” scale length, the Gretsch G6636-RF is a truly effortless guitar to play in any position. Compared to a “C” or “V” profile, the G6636-RF’s neck provides a more chunky, robust playing feel that’s lovely in hand. If you love '50s Telecasters and Les Pauls, you’ll be right at home with this one. The Ebony fretboard is topped with 22 medium jumbo frets, which are primed for expressive bends and vibrato.

Punchy Pickups

A huge part of makes the Gretsch G6636-RF special is its dual custom-wound Filter’Tron pickups. A sturdy 3-way toggle is used to switch between them. These versatile pickups were specially voiced to Richard Fortus’ exacting specifications and reflect his chameleon-like style. They take the rich, open tone of the original Filter’Trons and amp up the punchiness. There’s plenty of power, grit and growl on tap for rock and other aggressive styles where these traits are key.

Streamlined Controls

Gretsch has equipped the G6636-RF with a streamlined master volume and master tone control setup, which make on-the-fly adjustments a breeze. If you need to smoothly dial back the gain, the master volume is within easy reach and is positioned where it won’t be knocked when playing aggressively.

The volume has been upgraded with a treble bleed circuit, preserving the high-end as you roll it back, whilst the tone features a clarity-enhancing no-load pot.

Luxury Hardware

The G6636-RF’s premium hardware and appointments solidify the professional playing experience. The Graph Tech TUSQ XL nut and TonePros Tune-o-Matic Bridge (with standard saddles) reduce friction whilst keeping the tuning stability rock-solid. This beautiful Gretsch also features luxurious Pearloid Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays & headstock logo, jewelled G-arrow knobs and tortoiseshell pickguard, binding & pickup bezels.

This version of the Richard Fortus Signature Falcon is coated in a sleek Black finish. The G6636T-RF is also available, which features an elegant Vintage White finish and is outfitted with a String-Thru Bigsby bridge. If you want to pull off the characteristic vibrato that only a Bigsby can provide, the G6636T-RF is definitely worth your attention.

The G6636-RF Richard Fortus Signature Falcon uses the iconic guitar as a foundation and puts a fresh spin on it. If you’re looking for a hot-rodded Gretsch Falcon that stands out from the pack, the G6636-RF and its impressive feature-set are definitely worth your attention.
