I wanted a genuine Gibson and looked at this and the tribute models and the tribute seemed to be an attempt at a cut price standard. Nothing wrong with that, but not what I wanted. This seemed to be just a bit more original. The P90s are amazing. Nicely set up and sounds superb.

Great sounding guitar. I was considering either getting a 50's LP with P90s or this one. I think I made the right choice, it's almost half the price and a perfect Gibson for a "Tele guy". I would probably give it 4.5 stars as it did take a bit of setting up to fit my playing style. The action was too low for me, I couldn't bend the strings higher up the neck (I like to feel the strings pressing against my fingers and not slipping underneath them). The wraparound bridge is a compromise, so don't expect intonation to be perfect. I already swapped the bridge to an ABM 3024NA and now the intonation is spot on. Perhaps the most surprising thing for me was that the Gibson medium jumbo frets are quite low compared to my other guitars (Fender Teles), but they do feel nice when playing. I expected quite a thick neck and I wasn't disappointed (it is great). The body is very resonant and the nitro finish looks beautiful. The pickups are growing on me, but I've already decided to swap them for a set of Sunbear 56 SB90s. The wiring is modern, not 50's wiring, so that is another thing I want to experiment with. You may like the pickups and wiring as they are. All in all, I'm happily surprised how good this guitar sounds and looks like.
