Thought to be lost forever in a tragic 1980 cargo plane crash, the original guitar miraculously resurfaced over three decades later, earning its fitting “Phenix” nickname. Now, Gibson has meticulously recreated this historic instrument, delivering an authentic tribute with vintage aesthetics, modern craftsmanship, and incredible tonal versatility.
This Custom Shop masterpiece retains all the classic Les Paul Custom appointments while incorporating modern refinements for playability and sound. The ultra-lightweight, weight-relieved mahogany body provides exceptional resonance and sustain, wrapped in a sleek VOS (Vintage Original Spec) Ebony finish that captures the vintage character of the original without the wear and tear.
