Caroline Crom Fuzz Pedal Overview
Introducing the mighty Crom, a fuzz pedal that pays homage to the vintage Supa Tone Benders and Muff-style classics that inspired our renowned Olympia fuzz a decade ago. By utilizing BC184 transistors and innovating on traditional designs, Crom ventures into new territory with its distinctive tone and controls.
Unlike typical fuzz pedals with lossy tone stacks, Crom opts for a classic 1950’s tweed amp style tone control, known as “Mountain,” which interacts dynamically with the gain control, aptly named “Sword.” The result is a mid-forward, punchy sound rather than the usual scooped tones. At lower gain settings, it delivers tight and defined tones, while at higher gain levels, it becomes a bullish force that dominates the mix.
The versatility of Crom is further expanded through two selectable modes: Standard and Turbo. In Standard mode, you have precise control over the gain range and frequency responses. Engaging the Turbo switch unleashes a full blast of gain and power, ideal for pairing with clean amps or channels.
Using Crom in conjunction with other drives or into crunchier amps offers a different experience. With the Turbo mode disengaged, the pedal’s bass response tightens up, and it transforms into a classic 1970s fuzzy drive/sustainer, adding a unique touch to your setup.
As with all Caroline drives, Crom is meticulously hand-assembled in South Carolina, USA, ensuring the highest quality and attention to detail. So, embrace the power of Crom and let its rich, expressive fuzz take your sound to new heights!
