Whilst the Q8n-4K is billed as a handy video camera, there’s more to it than meets the eye. As well as capturing crisp 4K ultra-high-definition video, the Q8n-4K can also be used as a grab-and-go audio recording suite and USB interface. When it’s time to pack up and hit the road, the Q8n-4K quickly folds into a slim, convenient cylinder shape.

Zoom’s Q8n-4K camcorder offers a significantly more flexibility and production power than your average smartphone. Plus, it’s a sturdier and more portable alternative to a bulky DSLR or mirrorless camera. The classic camcorder design is invitingly familiar whilst the contoured form factor fits comfortably in the hand, making the Zoom Q8n-4K easy to use over long sessions.

Ultra HD Video

Zoom has outfitted the Q8n-4K with a powerful 160-degree wide-angle lens, which captures crystal-clear 4K ultra-high-definition video and offers up to 4x digital zoom. Thanks to the ten onboard scene presets, you don’t need to be a professional cinematographer to achieve top-notch results. Simply select the right one for the filming environment and you’re away. Presets can also be tweaked to your preferences using the rotating full-colour LCD touchscreen, which is easily accessible whether you’re behind or shooting “selfie-style” in front of the camera.

The Q8n-4K can be used handheld or mounted onto a tripod for extra stability. Zoom includes an adapter for three-prong action mounts, making the Q8n-4K directly compatible with most professional videography accessories. This feature-rich video camera also boasts a Mini HDMI port for direct playback to your television or monitor, a built-in speaker for audio monitoring without headphones and a USB interface for rapid data transfer. The USB capabilities are particularly handy for live streamers, conference callers and broadcasters whilst the onboard speaker is suited to short-form content creators who work on TikTok or Instagram.

Palm-sized Studio

Zoom products are widely renowned for their outstanding audio capture quality and the Q8n-4K is no exception, delivering seamless integration of up to four channels of audio into video recordings. The Q8n-4K can also double as a completely independent recorder and USB mic if you just want to record audio. Recorded audio can be exported as a high-fidelity WAV or AAC file and merged with video content as an MOV file. Monitoring can be handled via the built-in speaker or the headphone/line-out if you want to use external speakers or headphones.

Audio Focussed

When it's time to capture audio, you can use the included microphone capsule or the two mic/line inputs with XLR/TRS combo connectors to use your mic of choice. The inputs feature -20dB pads for recording hot signals or in loud environments and optional phantom power. Gain levels are easily controlled with the independent wheel knobs for each channel and there’s a handy low-cut filter that can help define voice recordings. The built-in limiter and compressor are on hand to enhance and polish your audio signals.

Adapt To Any Context

An advantage of the Zoom Q8n-4K video recorder is the interchangeable mic capsule, allowing you to tailor it to any content or filmmaking situation. The Q8n-4K is compatible with many of Zoom’s microphone capsules - from interview-ready shotgun mics to mid-side capsules for textured stereo recordings.

Everything You Need

In addition to the Q8n-4k itself, you also receive a variety of accessories, including a detachable stereo X/Y mic capsule (with foam windscreen for outdoor use), a glare-reducing lens hood, a protective lens cover, a USB cable, a convenient shoulder strap, and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. The battery can be recharged using either the USB cable or the optional power adapter.

This product is like a portable audio mixer, with 4 input channels, EQ, compressor, gate, limiter and roll of frequency, but also, it is a very good camera with good light in/out, works fantastic. I'm very happy with the result.
