It's really easy to replace. Remove the two screws on the preamp and carefully remove the preamp. Uplug the black and red wires noting how the plug is oriented. Unclip battery box from the inside of the guitar, remove the rubber gasket. Put the gasket on the replacement battery box. Clip the replacement battery box into the guitar. Plug the red and black cable back into the preamp. Screw back the preamp. Simples!

Had to buy complete unit when only the battery holder was required. But that is probably due to Yamaha....
