The Slöer Stereo Ambient Reverb: Enhanced Features and Modes
Building upon the success of Walrus Audio’s popular Slö lineup, the Slöer Stereo Ambient Reverb introduces exciting new features and expanded capabilities. With two additional reverb algorithms, stereo width control, two extra modulation wave shapes, and sample rate control, you can now craft immersive, lush, modulated, sleepy, and ambient soundscapes with unprecedented width and depth.
Save and Scroll Through Presets
Save up to three of your favorite dreamscapes effortlessly by simultaneously pressing and holding the bypass and sustain switches. Scroll through these presets by simultaneously pressing and releasing the bypass and sustain switches.
Versatile Reverb Modes
The five-way rotary dial offers a selection of five different reverb modes, including the familiar Dark (Lower Octave), Rise (Ambient Swell), and Dream (Latching Pad), along with two new modes: Rain (Delay Tap Diffusion) and Light (High Octave Shimmer). Additionally, secondary functions on the dial allow you to choose from five different wave shapes for modulation on the reverb trail.
Explore the Reverb Modes:
- Dark: Add a lower octave to your reverb trail, creating deep and atmospheric sounds with wide-ranging sonic possibilities. Adjust the X knob to set the level of a -1 octave signal that feeds the reverb.
- Rise: Experience an auto-swell reverb that produces beautiful cinematic swells. Let the reverb breathe and gently awaken after playing a note. The X knob controls the duration of the swell, allowing you to set shorter or longer rise times.
- Dream: Immerse yourself in lush reverb with a latching pad function. Press the sustain switch to latch the signal, and experiment with the X knob to add vibrato over the pad. Releasing the sustain switch allows the pad to decrescendo based on the decay knob setting.
- Rain: Tappy and trippy, this mode creates a unique effect with audible delay taps within the reverb. Lower levels of diffusion provide an echo-like effect. Use the X control to adjust the diffusion of the delay taps.
- Light: Delight in a bright and smooth reverb with an octave-up shimmer. The X slider enables you to create ethereal sounds, ranging from smooth pad-like reverbs to sparkling shimmer effects.
Diverse Modulation Wave Shapes
The Slöer also features five wave shapes for modulation, accessible by holding down the bypass switch while switching the algorithm dial:
- Sine: Smooth and even pitch modulation up and down.
- Warp: Asymmetric pitch modulation resembling a warped record.
- Sink: Asymmetric pitch modulation with a sinking detune effect similar to a Bigsby.
- Square: Symmetric pitch modulation with stepped modulation.
- Random: Uses sample and hold to generate new random modulation values.
Additional Functions and Modes
The Slöer offers momentary functions and trails mode:
- Bypass: Press and hold the switch in the off position to temporarily activate the effect, adding a moment of reverb texture. Releasing the switch turns off the effect, fading it out gradually.
- Sustain: Pressing the sustain switch ramps up the reverb trail to maximum, creating a long dreamy decay. Releasing the switch allows the reverb trail to taper off based on the decay knob setting. In the “Dream” algorithm, the sustain switch operates in latching mode, capturing and sustaining the current reverb decay for extended pad-like sounds.
- Trails Mode: Choose between trails or no trails mode. In trails mode, when you turn off the pedal, the reverb decay naturally fades away. In no trails mode, the decay is abruptly cut off. To toggle between modes, hold down the bypass switch for 1 second while applying power to the pedal, then repeat the process to switch to the other mode.
Preset Spillover
When scrolling through presets, preset spillover occurs only when the next preset shares the same algorithm as the previous one. For instance, if both the red and green presets are in Dream mode, switching from red to green will seamlessly transition without cutting off your reverb trails.
