This Supro Ozark is a modernized version of the late-50s Supro guitar, cherished by some of Rock & Roll’s most iconic performers.
This limited-edition 2019 Ozark meticulously recreates historically accurate body dimensions, a 25” scale length, and the signature pinstripe line art from the original instrument.
While re-imagining the Supro Ozark, we focused on enhancing playability and intonation without losing the classic American guitar sound. The new version features a string-through-body hardtail bridge mounted directly to the steel control plate, enabling individual string intonation and robust sustain, akin to the original.
The updated model boasts a black satin-finished maple neck glued into a mahogany body at the 14th fret, preserving the iconic guitar’s geometry while significantly improving playability and tuning stability.
A custom-made Aluma 90 pickup, developed by Lace Music for Supro, captures the tonal essence of the original Valco lap steel pickup while eliminating the vintage string-through design’s physical limitations.
The Ozark offers the unmistakable Supro tone in an instrument that can be set up and intonated like a modern guitar, yet still delivers the sound and feel of a vintage classic. The unique pickup is mounted on a large steel baseplate, integrated with the volume and tone controls and bridge into a single assembly. In the 1958 catalog, Supro described the Ozark’s pickup as a “powerful Western-Unit” with the extra response that Western stylists require.
