Typically the two coils of a humbucking pickup are wired in series for the maximum output that characterizes a loud humbucker. Additional tonal options are available. Split off one of the coils, known as coil tapping, and the pickup will sound more like a single-coil pickup. Wire the two coils of a humbucker in paralled lowers the output and changes the tone by raising the resonant peak frequency, while retaining the hum-cancelling of a humbucker. Usually these choices are available by mini-toggle switches, push-pull pots, or other levers which often offer limited pickup switching options or require drilling holes in your guitar. The Seymour Duncan Triple Shot mounting rings provide another option for switching the coils of a humbucker. The Seymour Duncan Triple Shot switching mounting ring contains two rocker switches that re-wire a humbucking pickup in series, parallel, or split with either coil selectable as active. Triple Shot works with any 4-conductor Seymour Duncan humbucker, and with many other manufacturer's humbuckers. Easy to install, connect the humbucker's leads to a circuit board adhered to the inside cavity of your guitar, connect the circuit board to your guitar's ground and hot connects. Triple Shot requires no permanent guitar modifications.
