The 7-string Ibanez XPT720-BKF is a member of the limited-edition Iron Label series of high-performance, metal focussed guitars. The XPTB720-BKF marks the re-introduction of the Xiphos body shape, an Ibanez fan favourite that’s been highly requested. The XPTB720-BKF sports Iron Label signature features such as the sleek Black Flat finish as well as updated ones like an Okoume body, earth-shattering DiMarzio D-Activator 7 humbuckers and a lightning-fast Wizard II-7 neck.

Powerful Tone

Laying the potent tonal foundation for the Ibanez XPTB720 is the Okoume body. Tonally, Okoume is similar to Mahogany, with the strong mid-range response and punchiness that you’d expect, and is more sustainable to boot.

Enhancing the Ibanez XPTB720’s natural voice is a pair of powerful DiMarzio D-Activator 7 humbuckers. These passive pickups embody the most desirable elements of an active design - without any of the drawbacks such as batteries and limited dynamic range. Plus, the neck and bridge’s output has been precisely dialled in so there’s no volume drop when you switch between them.

These pickups are primed to take on all the distortion you can throw at them and retain a clean, open sound with impressive note separation at high gain settings.

The Maple & Walnut is adorned with a lush Ebony fretboard and 24 Jumbo frets. Ebony is the fingerboard wood of choice for the high-end Iron Label guitars, as its toughness, crisp high-end and fast response make it ideal for heavier genres. The Jumbo frets can give you an edge when performing technically demanding music due to the super-smooth playing feel that they provide.
