Ibanez RGD71ALPA Axion Label 7 String, Charcoal Black Flat Overview
This model is part of the RGD series, which has a slightly longer neck (1 inch longer to make it 26.5”) which is ideal for guitarists who like to downtune their strings but still want a thick, rich tone. It’s also an Axion Label model which uses ultra-modern hardware and unique features. This is a 7 string model with a Layered Ash and Nyatoh body, a slim Nitro Wizard 5 piece Panga Panga and Walnut neck, which are both fairly open grain woods and give a unique natural look. On top of this is a Macassar Ebony fretboard with 24 jumbo Sub Zero treated frets, which means they have been temperature treated to make the frets more durable and less susceptible to climate changes and moisture.
It has two Bare Knuckle Aftermath-7 Humbuckers at the bridge and neck, which were designed with metal guitarists in mind with an accelerated bass response, focused and intense mid-range, and articulate high-end. There are also Gotoh MG-T locking machine heads,
Gotoh MG-T locking machine heads, monorail hardtail bridge which allows for equalised tensions across all the strings while also isolating each string so it can vibrate without affecting the others, luminescent side dots which is ideal in low-light environments, and Schaller S-Locks strap lock pins.
To complete the look, it has a Poplar Burl top with a Charcoal Black Flat finish which makes it mesmerizing to look at - the outside of the guitar is black, and it fades into a mixture of interesting patterns and natural browns in the centre of the guitar, and the headstock also matches this.
