Back in 1961, the Les Paul model took a break, allowing for an all-new design that would eventually evolve into the iconic SG, or “solid guitar.” The Gibson SG Standard '61 proudly retains the styling of the original model, featuring a SlimTaper mahogany neck and a bound rosewood fingerboard. Its mahogany body is beautifully sculpted with deep body contours, a 5-ply teardrop pickguard, and a 22nd-fret neck joint.
The guitar’s design is complemented by nickel-plated hardware, including a classic-style Tune-O-Matic bridge and Keystone tuners. The SG Standard '61 is equipped with 60s Burstbucker humbuckers, delivering a vintage voice with added power and top-end clarity. The controls are finely tuned with audio taper potentiometers and Orange Drop capacitors, providing precision and tonal finesse.
