Collings D1 T SB Traditional, Vintage Satin, Sunburst, Second-Hand Overview
A stunning pre-owned Collings Dreadnought!
Item in good condition (Small marks or scratches)
Collings Guitars once again impresses with the D1 Traditional, showcased in a beautiful Vintage Satin Sunburst finish. This guitar boasts a thin nitrocellulose satin finish, similar to that of the Collings Julian Lage signature model, making it highly responsive and focused. The D1 Traditional can produce powerful volumes while maintaining a sensitivity to light touches, a surprising feature for a dreadnought. Its classic spruce and mahogany construction delivers rich, rounded highs with a focused low-end projection.
Built with care and precision, the Traditional Series guitars stand out for their craftsmanship, attention to detail, and high-quality materials. These guitars feature traditional style bracing and tonewoods that are carefully adjusted and voiced to produce a vintage-inspired tone. The ultra-thin satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish, applied without a polyvinyl sealer, enhances the liveliness and expressiveness of the top, evoking the feel of a pre-war guitar. Its specifications include a dreadnought body with tortoise-style binding, a vintage-inspired sunburst finish, and traditional pre-war scalloped bracing without a tongue brace.
The top is made of Sitka spruce, accented by a tortoise-style pickguard and wood purfling, while the back and sides are crafted from mahogany, with a walnut backstrip. The guitar features a 25 1/2" scale length, a mahogany neck with a custom traditional profile, and an ebony fingerboard with a 14" - 26" compound radius. The fingerboard also includes 20 medium 18% nickel-silver frets and gold mother-of-pearl microdot inlays.
Other notable features include a 1 3/4" bone nut, a bone cut-through saddle with 2 5/16" string spacing, and an ebony belly-style bridge. The guitar is equipped with relic nickel Waverly tuners with a 16:1 ratio for precise tuning stability.
It has been set up, re-strung and deep-cleaned by our in-house technician and includes the original hard case.
