Boss TR-2 Tremolo Pedal Overview
The Boss TR-2 was originally introduced in 1997 as a simplified replacement to the PN-2. The TR-2 is a straight forward tremolo pedal with a mono input and output, tremolo 'Rate' and 'Depth' controls to easily dial in the perfect speed and strength of effect and the 'Wave' control allows you blend between square and triangle LFO waveforms. This classic effect recreates the tremolo sounds of various vintage '60s valve amplifiers and the TR-2 has become a staple pedal for guitarists all over the world.
GAK's Boss TR-2 FAQ's
Q1: Will a tremolo pedal give the same effect as my guitars tremolo unit?
A: No, the tremolo unit on a guitar affects the pitch of the guitar, in pedal terms this would be called vibrato. A tremolo pedal such as the TR-2 affects the volume of the signal to create the effect. The waveform shape then determines how the volume changes.
Q2: Will the TR-2 help me achieve a classic 'Surf Guitar' tone?
A: Yes, Tremolo is one of the effects used in surf guitar music. This tone can be attained using single coil pickups, tremolo, vibrato and heaps of reverb!
Q3: How long is the battery life?
A: The TR-2 uses a 9V PP-3 type battery. Using an Alkaline battery (6LR61) will give around 10 hours of use. The TR-2 can also be powered by an optional AC adapter such as the Boss PSA.
