Boss OD-1X Special Edition Premium Overdrive Pedal Overview
The Boss OD-1 was originally introduced in 1977 and was one of the first overdrive pedals to be made available in the emerging stomp-box market. Though fuzz was still a more commonly used effect in the 70's, the overdrive would go on to become the staple sound. The OD-1 sound was popularised by the L.A metal scene and over the years it has been re-designed several times by Boss. The OD-1 was designed with simplicity in mind and it's asymmetric waveform resulted in a unique, gritty overdrive.
The new Boss OD-1X takes this classic design and brings it into the realm of the modern guitar player. Built using MDP technology (Multi Dimensional Processing) which has real time DSP to perfectly capture your tone, no matter where on the fretboard. The result is a high definition, bold overdrive tone which captures the character of your guitar and pickups and adds natural compression and wide-range tonal shaping. The OD-1X offers the most superior playing experience for an overdrive pedal to date!
GAK's Boss OD-1X FAQ's
Q1: Is the OD-1X an analog overdrive?
A: No, The OD-1X uses digital processing or MDP technology to provide real-time DSP effects. The result of this means the OD-1X is more responsive and has a very low noise even when using the gain on full.
Q2: What is the diffence between the OD-1X and the SD-1X?
A: The SD-1X is an all-analog overdrive pedal built by the Waza Craft, Japan custom shop. It is more suited to those looking for a traditional, vintage overdrive tone. The OD-1X has a much more modern tone and digital circuit which allows for tones that are unattainable on an analog circuit.
Q3: How long is the battery life?
A: The OD-1X uses a 9V PP-3 type battery. Using an Alkaline battery (6LR61) will give around 9 hours of use. The OD-1X can also be powered by an optional AC adapter such as the Boss PSA.
