Boss Katana Bass 110 60W Combo Overview

Ultra-versatile 60-watt bass combo amplifier with a punchy, stage and studio-ready sound and a wealth of tonal options.

Bass Refined

When the BOSS Katana guitar amplifier series was released, it seriously raised the bar for what an affordable amp can offer. Presenting a rugged, road-ready design, tonal flexibility and, most importantly, inspiring sound at a keen price point, the BOSS Katana amps were an instant hit with guitarists across the globe. With the Katana Bass range, BOSS have primed their immensely popular Katana amps for bassists - from seasoned touring professionals or weekend warriors.

Class AB Power

The Katana-110 Bass combo delivers top-performance amplification that draws upon decades of expert knowledge. Fueling the Katana-110 Bass amp’s punchy, powerful and present tone is 60 watts of class AB power. Don’t be fooled by the number, the Katana-110 Bass can keep up with class D-powered amps at least four times the wattage with ease. The class AB power amp design delivers huge volume, potent low-end presence and truly smooth, natural-sounding drive as you crank the gain.

Three Amp Types

With a trio of unique amp types and a three-way Shape switch for each one at your disposal, the Katana-110 Bass can be quickly tailored to any genre or style. Vintage gives you an old-school, organic valve tone with a natural overdrive. Flat has a smooth, rich and clear harmonic character with a wide dynamic range. Modern offers a rapid dynamic response and extended low-end that’s perfect for contemporary genres.

Commanding Tone

Catering for the BOSS Katana-110 Bass combo amp’s authoritative voice is a custom-designed speaker system that’s paired with a robust combo cabinet. No matter what kind of band or musical situation you’re in, the Katana-110 Bass will make sure your presence is felt and heard. The strong fundamental sound of the 10-inch woofer is partnered with a high-frequency tweeter. This tweeter maintains note definition and clarity whilst performing slap bass and other modern techniques. You can switch off the tweeter via a convenient panel switch for a more vintage tone. The efficient bi-amp design ensures a consistently balanced, crisp sound.

Quality BOSS Effects

As you’d expect from a Katana amp, the Katana-110 Bass is equipped with BOSS effects. BOSS is one of the most renowned names when it comes to effects so you can count on the onboard effect models to sound fantastic. Core processing is provided by the dedicated drive and compressor/limiter sections. FX1 and FX2 are armed with a plethora of effects from the BOSS bass effects library. There are classic modulation effects such as Chorus and Flanger as well as dramatic ones such as Octave and Bass Synth. FX2 also features delay and reverb for when you want to add space and depth to your bass tone. Connect your Katana-110 Bass to the BOSS Tone Studio editor to access over 60 effect types.

Effortless Layout

The BOSS Katana-110 Bass amplifier features an intuitive panel layout, making refining and customising your tone quick and easy. The Blend section lets you mix in your bass’s dry signal like you can in a recording studio. Your dry tone can be pre-shaped from the panel using three tweakable settings for seamless tonal fusion. Additional shaping is handled by a comprehensive four-band EQ that lets you choose from three frequency centres for the high-mid and low-mid bands.

Ready To Gig

BOSS has primed the Katana-110 Bass combo amp for live performance by allowing you to store six Tone Setting memories. Once you’ve set up your preamp type, EQ settings, Blend level and effects, you can save it as a Tone Setting for instant recall. Memories can be selected via the panel or with an optional footswitch, expression pedal or controller such as the GA-FC. Hooking up a footswitch is highly recommended if you plan on gigging, as it lets you alternate between a pristine clean Modern voice to a gritty Vintage one in a flash. Handy utilities include a balanced XLR output for connecting to a house system and a switch that chooses whether a direct, pre or post signal is sent.

Recording Companion

The Katana-110 Bass is also a top-notch home and studio recording amplifier, thanks to its compact form factor and variable Power Control that gives you filthy, cranked-amp tones at a neighbour-friendly volume. The dedicated headphones/recording output jack performs as a direct output with effects as well as an authentic mic’d cab emulation with three Air Feel settings. The USB capability allows you to interface the Katana-110 Bass with your music production software and record with a superb bass tone.

Free Software Editor

The BOSS Tone Studio editor is a free programme that unlocks the potential of your Katana-110 Bass amp and lets you tweak your tone with even deeper control. Gigging bassists will love the option to organise sounds into Live Sets whilst serious studio tweakers will enjoy the fine control over preamp, EQ, Blend and effect settings. The optional BOSS Bluetooth Audio MIDI Dual Adaptor can be connected to the rear panel for wireless adjustments from your iOS or Android device.

Katana-210 Bass

Whilst the Katana-110 Bass is perfect for small to medium-sized venues, the Katana-210 Bass is available if you want additional headroom and low-end presence for playing in larger spaces. With 160-watts of class AB stage power under the hood and a pair of custom-designed 10-inch woofers, the Katana-210 Bass definitely packs a punch.

If you’re a bass guitarist that wants a fully-featured, compact combo amp for gigs and studio work, the Katana-110 Bass is very hard to beat for the price.

Suprisingly loud for a 60w bass amp and extremely flexible. I would definitely recommend this amp.
