The Modal Electronics Argon8 is an eight-voice polyphonic wavetable synthesizer with a 37-key Fatar TP9/S keyboard featuring velocity sensitivity and aftertouch.
Its elegant design includes dark wood side panels, brushed steel construction, and an OLED display that provides real-time visual feedback, including waveform displays. At its core, the Argon8 utilizes two high-resolution wavetable oscillators, offering 120 wavetables divided into 24 banks, along with features like wavefolding, bitcrushing, and oscillator modifications such as AM, FM, and ring modulation. Its 12dB multimode morphing filter allows seamless transitions between low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass filtering.
The synth includes three ADSR envelopes, two versatile LFOs, and a joystick controller that acts as a modulation source. Its eight-slot modulation matrix supports deep sound design capabilities. A trio of stereo effects processors adds reverb, delay, flanging, phasing, and distortion to refine the sound. With a 512-step sequencer, programmable 32-step arpeggiator, and 500 total patches (300 factory and 200 user), the Argon8 caters to creative exploration.
It also integrates with the free MODALapp for extensive editing and sound management across multiple platforms. Connectivity includes MIDI, USB, pedal inputs, audio in/out, and sync options, making it a powerful and flexible tool for musicians.
