Early days, but like the nice deep bass sound and easy of us and construction. Only point i am worried about is the string heads, over time will they hold up, and if they go are replacements difficult to get hold of perhaps i should have asked the question when i purchased it,but i know that on ubass these generally can be a problem. Any way at present 10 out of 10

I play Ukulele and I've decided to give Ubass a try. Being on a budget, and knowing that a Ubass is not cheap then I was wondering if I might be getting a 'pig in a poke'. The Kala name gave me a bit of reassurance. As it happens I need not have worried. It's a good solid instrument that was playable out of the box, after some minor tuning of course. I'm really enjoying learning to play it and was able to do a basic play- along with some online tracks after a short time. I'm looking forward to being able to jam along with other players and I'll have no shame in lifting this out of its case. Unplugged it's quiet enough to practice on without the neighbours banging on the wall, with headphones it's great jamming along with my laptop plugged into my amp and it sounds great with 'open' amp. I did take note of the need to lift the strings through the nut when tuning and I've had no trouble with the strings. The G string needs a bit of tuning, I'm sure like all Uke strings it will settle down and it is just because of the higher tension. The other strings all hold tune and the onboard tuner is clear to read and accurate. I haven't experienced any 'buzzing' on it but it does come with an allen-key to adjust the truss rod so I have been able to adjust the action. Being such a short scale then there's not a lot of movement but enough to make a difference. If it was stolen then I would buy another.

Seems a very nice bass ukulele that I believe was originally the countryman bass. the frets are very slightly rough but not enough to be a problem, will be better when filed smooth.

The product works well so far (4 days since it arrived). The finish is not as good as more expensive models but that is to be expected given the excellent price.
